Reports reaching SKNVibes state that shortly after 8:0a.m. yesterday, while Dwayne Martin of Bird Rock had parked his car at his workplace in the C.A. Paul Southwell Industrial Site in the vicinity of TDC, two armed, masked men dressed in dark clothing opened fire in his direction.

According to police sources, Martin escaped injury under the hail of bullets and fled the scene on foot. However, his car and a bus that were parked in the area were damaged by some of the bullets.

The two assailants reportedly made good their escape after being whisked in a getaway vehicle.

This media house learned that more than a dozen shots were fired at Martin and members of the Police Crime Scene Unit had recovered some 10 spent shells at the scene.

At about 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2015, Martin’s wife, Carla Hendrickson, was shot while she was about to enter her vehicle just outside their Bird Rock home.

This media house had learnt that a gunman or gunmen had fired a number of shots in her direction and she was allegedly struck multiple times to the body and was rushed to the JNF Hospital by Martin.

It was also learnt that the vehicle bore bullet holes to the front door and a part of the windscreen on the passenger’s side.

And on Thursday, May 29, 2014, Martin and Hendrickson were jointly charged with Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Supply, Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.

They were remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison and subsequently placed on bail to the tune of $100 000 each with two sureties. They were also ordered to surrender all travel documents and were to report to the Basseterre Police Station twice weekly.
