BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A 39-year-old man is being investigated for allegedly raping a girl of seven years.

Initial reports reaching SKNVibes indicated that the little girl was not only raped but also her throat was slashed following the incident.

Police Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Cromwell Henry spoke with this media house and confirmed that investigations are being made into an alleged incident of rape. He however informed that he had no knowledge of the child’s throat being slashed.

Henry said both the victim and the alleged assailant are from the Old Road area and the alleged incident occurred at about 6:30 this morning (Apr. 4) in that village.

The police became involved in the matter, Henry explained, after the girl’s older sister reported the incident.

According to Henry, the child was medically examined and investigations into the incident are ongoing.

A suspect is currently in custody and is assisting with the investigations.
