By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A motorcyclist and a taxi driver were involved in a traffic accident which occurred yesterday afternoon (Apr. 30) along the Bay Road in vicinity of the Ferry Terminal.

The incident occurred at about 2:00 p.m. and, according to information reaching SKNVibes, it involved motorbus T493 – owned and operated by Dennis Levine of Canada Estate - and motorcycle PA9006 – operated by Olajuwon Williams of Newtown.

According to a representative of the Traffic Department, both vehicles were travelling in a westerly direction, with T493 at the front.

Further information suggests that Levine signalled his intention of crossing over to the mountain side of the road where he reportedly had intentions of parking.

It was at that time Williams reportedly made an attempt to overtake and collided with the right front portion of T493.

When SKNVibes arrived on the scene, the motorcycle was on its side in front of T493. A unit from the Emergency Medical Services was also observed in proximity.

SKNVibes understands that Williams was transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for treatment and, although the extent of his injuries is not known, he was subsequently discharged.

It did not appear as though major damage to the vehicles resulted from the accident.

The Traffic Department has indicated that it is making investigations into the incident.
