    CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – SIX matters are slated to be heard at the Nevis High Court which opened today (Apr. 6) in Charlestown.

     

    The matters presented were rape and burglary, robbery, dangerous driving and causing death by dangerous driving, wounding with intent and unlawful wounding, unlawful carnal knowledge, and causing grievous bodily harm and inflicting grievous bodily harm.

     

    Appearing to answer the charges were James Ham for rape and burglary; Jermaine Gaskin and Anthony Francis, jointly on robbery; Rolston Caines, dangerous driving and causing death by dangerous driving; Ketron Springette, wounding with intent and unlawful wounding; Duran Grant, unlawful carnal knowledge; and Shawn Herbert alias World Cup, causing grievous bodily harm and inflicting grievous bodily harm.

     

    All the accused pleaded not guilty except for Herbert, who will make his plea on April 27, which is the tentative date set for the hearing.

     

    Gaskin and Francis, who are both representing themselves, will be the first to have their cases heard when matters begin tomorrow. Other matters will be heard on April 8, 27, 28 and 29.

     

    Along with the accused and lawyers, there were 36 jurors present.
