BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THREE days after he was arrested for allegedly raping a 7-year-old girl, Calvert Doyling of Old Road has been officially charged with one count of “unlawful carnal knowledge”.

Doyling, 39, was picked up by police after a report was filed at the Old Road Police Station indicating that the girl, who is also from Old Road, was sexually assaulted.

A previous interview between SKNVibes and Press and Public Relations Officer for the police force, Inspector Cromwell Henry revealed that the police were informed of the incident by the victim’s sister. He further explained that the alleged incident occurred in Old Road at about 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 4.

The seven-year-old, according to reports, was taken to the hospital for a medical examination following the incident.

According to a police press release, Doyling was formally charged today and is expected to appear before the court “shortly”. At that court hearing, the accused can make application for bail to be granted or denied at the magistrate’s discretion.

The maximum penalty for the offence of “unlawful carnal knowledge” perpetrated against a female under the age of 14 years is life imprisonment.
