BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – “She could have her bag on her shoulder and making her way through the door, but once we tell her we need something done she would put down her bag and get back to work. She is an outstanding worker and always goes the extra mile and a half…”
This is the commendation given to Kajola Kristada’s April 2015 Employee of the Month Marsha Buncome by her supervisor, Beulah Belle.
Buncome began her stint at the organisation in 2000 and has worked on a number of lines, including the Mini Initial and Populating and is currently stationed at the Notching Line.
As has been the case for every announcement of the Employee of the Month since the year began, members of that committee recently took to the factory floor walking about in a jubilant manner utilising whistles and other objects with which to make noise.
This is as clear an indicator as any that the time has come for the big announcement to be made. But, according to reports reaching this publication, Buncome, a second time winner of the award, was in disbelief when the committee members stopped at her station and loudly proclaimed that she was the one.
“They started with their drums and whistles and noise. They went around and around on each line and then they came back through the Notching Line and they stopped by me. Someone next to me was saying it was me, but I kept telling her it would not have been me. I didn’t believe it at first and I was frightened,” Buncome said.
After reality had set in, Buncome, who hails from Haynes Smith Village, said she felt “good” about her accomplishment” and noted that she maintained her habit of going the extra mile to ensure that the jobs always gets done.
Belle told SKNVibes that Buncome “always, always works well and gives it her all”. She added that “congratulations are in order…keep up the good work Marsha. Job well done”!
