BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TWO male employees of Christophe Harbor, who just happen to work in the same department, were named the development’s Manager of the Quarter and Employee of the Quarter for the period January – March 2015.
The awardees are Glenville Francis – Landscape Maintenance Manager – and Kirwan ‘Hepp’ Morraine, a heavy machine operator.
SKNVibes understands that the selection process involves employees and upper level management.
Both men began their stint with Christophe Harbor eight years ago and, in an interview with SKNVibes, they expressed their feelings on the accolades bestowed on them.
Morraine disclosed that he had never been named Employee of the Quarter and is pleased that his contribution to the Christopher Harbor brand is being recognised by his peers.
“I am the tractor driver. The guys who I am working with told me they think that I am the fittest one to win the award. So I said, “Alright”. No one looked for me all those years and the younger ones were stepping up. But when the said they think I should be it, I felt good to see that they were seeing work that I do. I have never won it before!”
Morraine added that he thoroughly enjoys working with the company and has no intentions of giving up the job anytime soon.
“I enjoy it, I enjoy working here. I don’t have any plans of leaving here. I plan to finish when I feel I can’t make it anymore.”
Giving a glimpse into his daily routine and responsibilities, Morraine indicated that he clocks in at 7:30 a.m. and immediately ensures that the tractor he operates is functioning properly. Then it is off to ensure that the beach is clean and free of sea weed that the ocean might have yielded over the evening.
Morraine said he also ensures that he is available for whatever task his supervisor would delegate to him for the day.
Francis, Morraine’s supervisor, told SKNVibes that he was once named Employee of the Quarter and this is the first time he is being named Manager of the Quarter.
He said he takes his job very seriously and does whatever he has to do to get it done. He also said that he sees this award as approval for the quality of work he produces.
“How I go about my work is that I perform my duties to the best of my abilities and I see everything else as a bonus so to speak. I don’t look for stuff like this, but if it does come, yes I will appreciate it. But I try to look at the bigger picture; I have a job to and I have to do what I have to do.
“I am elated! The good thing about it is that the staff has a say in it and top management finalises it. So it is a good feeling to see that across the board you are being selected as Manager of the Quarter because it shows the quality of work that you put out over the years.”
Congratulations to both Francis and Morraine.
