Unleash School Tour

Press Release

June 5th, 2015  --  The Unleash Experience - the St. Kitts and Nevis leg of the Caribbean Gospel Music Tour got off to a very good start Thursday with the Unleash School Tour to six schools in St. Kitts.  The Unleash Experience is a series of events comprising school tours, a concert, youth rally and a church tour by gospel artists from various countries in the Caribbean forming what is known as the Caribbean Gospel Music Tour. The tour has been an ongoing effort for four years and originated in Trinidad and Tobago by gospel artist Curtis Jordan.

The eight gospel artists including two from St. Kitts and Nevis that joined the St. Maarten leg of the tour, arrived in St. Kitts on Wednesday and hit the road to the various schools on Thursday. On Thursday morning they visited the Dr. William Connor Primary School, Irish Town Primary School and the Bronte Welsh Primary School. Then in the afternoon session, the groups visited the Beach Allen Primary School, Sandy Point Primary School and the St. Paul’s Primary School.

In the morning session, the artists conducted school assemblies after which they conducted a workshop session with selected students. Most of the schools used the opportunity to have their Test of Standard Exam students in these sessions as a motivator for them ahead of exams. The artists will head over to Nevis Friday for the Nevis leg of the Unleash School Tour. They will visit the Ivor Walters Primary School, the Joycelyn Liburd Primary School and the Elisabeth Pemberton Primary School.

The Caribbean Gospel Music Tour manager and founder Curtis Jordan was pleased with the day’s proceedings. “Today was productive and fruitful in that we were able to successfully split up the team and cover much ground and really impact the schools on a whole which was the target for the day and were very successful thus far,” Jordan said. “We are very impressed and feel very accomplished with what we were able to do today and we look forward to heading out to Nevis tomorrow,” he added.

St. Kitts gospel artist Nyquan performed and spoke to students of his alma mater the Beach Allen Primary School Thursday afternoon. The students were very receptive and appreciative of his contribution. Nyquan is one of three artists signed to Jife Music, a new gospel music label in St. Kitts. He and label mate Dominic Brookes became the first artists to be included on the Caribbean Gospel Music tour and had their first experience in St. Maarten before returning home.

The tour continues with the Bigger Better Louder Concert at the New Birth Gospel Tabernacle in Cayon starting at 7:30pm featuring: Curtis Jordan (Trinidad and Tobago), Nyquan (St. Kitts and Nevis), Dominic Brookes (St. Kitts and Nevis), Omar Ewen (Jamaica), Shawn English (Guyana), Keron Thomas (Trinidad and Tobago), Nigel Lopez (Trinidad and Tobago) and Joshua DRJ (St. Maarten).

The following day, Saturday June 6th will be the Bigger Better Louder Youth Rally at the Unique Touch Christian Center in Sandy Point starting at 6:00pm. These artists will perform and minister in word at this Youth Rally to hundreds of young people from across the island. Admission to both events is free but food and refreshments are on sale. For more information on the rally and concert, call 662-2200 and 763-0064.
