BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE young man who was shot at yesterday afternoon (June 5) in Cayon has reportedly suffered a slight injury to his chest.
A police communiqué has given his name as Tarpquel ‘Biggie’ Burroughs of Lower Cayon.
At about 3:30 p.m. yesterday while the 26-year-old was at De Valley Pub waiting for his hair to be cut, he was attacked by a masked gunman dressed in dark clothing and wearing a red, gold and yellow tam affixed with fake dreadlocks.
The gunman reportedly fire a number of shots in Burroughs’ direction with one grazing him on the right side of his chest and another striking one of two cell phones he had in his pocket.
An eyewitness claimed that were it not for the cell phones in his pocket, “Biggie would have been shot in his leg and might not have been able to jump the fence in his bid to evade the Rastaman”.
Eyewitnesses said that Burroughs ran to the Cayon Police Station, where he reported the matter and was shortly after taken to the hospital.
They also said that the assailant fled the scene by running through the yard that houses the Bethesda Moravian Church.
The communiqué stated that members of the Violent Crime Unit are investigating the incident and the police are seeking the public’s assistance in bring the perpetrator to justice.
