BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - WITH the 2015 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) set to bowl off later this month, one of the top players from the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots is confident that if the team plays to its potential it could emerge winner of the tournament.
In an interview with DJ Sugar Bowl on Freedom FM's Morning Express, Pakistani bowler Sohail Tanvir, who will be donning the Patriots’ jersey during the 2015 CPL, indicated that the team is sting on paper.
"We are getting together in St. Kitts on the 16th to start our training camp. We all are excited as a team! We have a good team on paper with some experienced players and youngsters."
He also indicated that the team would have to gel, but however opined that in modern day cricket that would not take long.
"It does matter not only to have good team on paper but also to have good understanding. Nowadays we see with players playing in different leagues and sharing a dressing room with all types of individuals; so it won’t take much time to gel together."
The left-arm seamer declared that if the team plays to its potential, it would be a favourite for the title.
"We just need to play according to our skills, and if we do that we have a strong enough team to be in contention to win it all."
Tanvir also expressed his views about St. Kitts.
"I had a very nice time over there last time. The people were lovely! They came to support and their team was not playing but they came to support cricket. This time they will definitely come in larger numbers because their team is playing.
"It is one of my favourite islands. I think St. Kitts is the best island in the Caribbean, in my opinion, and I am very happy to be a part of my favourite island."
The 2015 CPL will bowl off on June 24 with the games in Warner Park bowling off on June 30.
