The children were chaperoned by Education Officer for Secondary Schools, Mr Joseph Wiltshire.

Because of the fact that the conference is being held so close to us, we thought it would be a little treat for the kids to invite them to see and experience the opening ceremony this morning. We brought along the two finalists as well as the others who took part in the competition and that is why they are here this morning. I think the experience could serve them well, commented Ms Brookes.

Overall winners for the 2005 FCCA essay competition were Dillion Charles Card from Turks and Caicos Island in the junior category and Jelani Ashton Phillip Paul from St. Lucia in the senior category.
