BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – LESS than two months after being exonerated of gun-related charges, Sheldon ‘Sword’ Cannonier has been charged with one count of “shooting with intent”.

According to a police press release, he was “formally arrested and charged” on Monday, April 6, 2009 for an incident which transpired on Saturday (Ap. 4) at Carty Alley, Newtown.

Information received by SKNVibes from the Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Cromwell Henry, is that the incident occurred at about 7:36 that evening following which police received a report of the sound of gunshots in the area.

Investigations made by the police confirmed that a shooting had taken place; however, no one was injured. Neither the person who was shot at nor the person who committed the offence, according to Henry, could have been located following the incident.

Inspector Henry explained that although the two men could not be found, the police’s investigations yielded their names and a search for both individuals was conducted.

Cannonier has been accused of committing the offence and is scheduled to appear before the court to answer to his charge and possibly make an application for bail.
