~Inaugural Sports Conference to be held in Barbados~

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, June 8th 2015 - G. O. Lynch Consultancy Inc (GOLCI) and Novaris Risk Management Solutions are joining forces to co-host the first comprehensive, all- inclusive Risk & Opportunity Management Conference for the Sports Industry in Barbados.

The Conference comes off at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium on Thursday June 25 to Saturday, June 27, 2015 from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on the first two days and from 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. on the final day.

This Conference themed “Good Governance and Greatness” will assist attendees, whether they be sports governors and policy makers, administrators, active sportsmen and women, the media, fans and other stakeholders to study and solve key risks to the development of a viable sports industry and sports-tourism product for Barbados.

It will also help to unearth and take advantage of a broad range of opportunities in the sports industry and related industries such as entertainment and tourism.

The Hon. Stephen Lashley - Minister of Sports, Youth and Culture will deliver the Feature Address on Day 1 of the Conference at 9.30 am. Mr. William Griffith CEO of Sponsor Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc, and Mr. Richard Ince – General Manager of Sponsor Brydens Insurance Inc. will also address the Conference.

An excellent team of international and local subject matter experts will examine the local and global sports industries and identify best practices and key learning points that could assist Barbados and our Caribbean neighbours to develop our sports-tourism industry with clear evidence-based objectives.

Two years ago Barbados’s Minister of Tourism and International Transport Richard Sealy called on local tourism marketers and planners to “let their creative juices flow” when seeking to develop additional sports tourism opportunities.

This Conference goes a long way to filling the gap between “talk and action” by focusing on issues of governance, risk and opportunity management, as well as regulation and control issues. It will lay out a framework for developing and protecting the industry, and highlight the kind of processes that must be followed to deal with the risks and opportunities assessed.

Speakers will work with attendees to identify and analyze a range of risks and opportunities which are either being addressed or which need to be addressed within their sphere of influence. In this way Conference attendees can assist corporate sports managers and planners to develop the kind of plans that must be put in place to help manage these risks and opportunities.

The following are among the broad range of one (1), two (2) and three (3) day seminars and workshops that GOLCI has provided under the risk management umbrella including seminars on:

Managing impacts from the financial crisis of 2008
    Health & Safety Risk Management
    People Risk Management
    Corporate Governance
    Enterprise-wide Risk Management
Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Management

All government officials, sports promoters and administrators, sponsors, ancillary service providers, sportsmen and women, sports media, commentators and fans are urge to attend this important Conference and help to shape the development and maintenance of a strong sporting industry in Barbados. We want to offer a special invitation to our Caribbean brothers and sisters to register and attend this important Conference.
