Vehicle vandalised in Keys stone-throwing incident

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IN what might be described as a bizarre incident, all the windows and windscreens of a motorcar were shattered last evening (Jun. 14) after an individual or individuals reportedly flung stones at it.

Sergeant Carl Greaux of the Cayon Police Station explained to this media house that sometime after 10:00 p.m., he received an anonymous report of gunshots being fired in the Keys Village area. However, on responding, he found that stones were thrown at a vehicle, the sounds from which could have been mistaken for gunshots.

He said it occurred at the four mile mark and the vandalised vehicle, a white Mazda with registration number PA1834, was parked on the seaside of the road.

Officer Greaux informed that the Crime Scene Unit was called to the scene and items of evidentiary value, including the stones and a pair of shoes, were removed from the scene.

SKNVibes is not aware if individuals were in the vehicle at the time of it being vandalised.

As for the owner of the vehicle, Greaux said he collaborated with the Traffic Department in ascertaining ownership, but attempts to contact and or locate the person were unsuccessful.

Early this morning, however, when he went back to the scene, Sergeant Greaux said the vehicle was already removed.

    Investigations are continuing.
