Good Friday Fun Day aims to promote stronger families and safer communities

    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, APRIL 9TH 2009 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas has welcomed continuing efforts to promote stronger families and safer communities in the twin-island Federation.
     
    In an effort to promote good community spirit and community togetherness and uphold traditions, the Central Basseterre Labour Branch has organised a Family Fun Day on Good Friday (April 10th) from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Gardens Playing Field.
     
    Organisers say there will activities for all ages including kite flying competition, bouncing castle, Easter egg hunt, hula hoop competition, seniors Easter hat parade, seniors karaoke and walking race, basketball, female cricket, domino and bun-eating competitions.
     
    There will also be a masters football competition, family competitions and mother-daughter and father-son races.
     
    Besides an open bar, conki, Johnny cakes, cassava bread, pancakes, tuna and cheese sandwiches and red herring and rice will be on sale.
     
    “In keeping with the Good Friday tradition, only religious and conscious music will be played in the effort to promote stronger families and safer communities,” said a bulletin issued on the Family Fun Day.
