BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A former member of the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force has become the latest gun-violence victim in the twin-island Federation.
Dead is Everette ‘Roach’ Battice of Keys Village, who was reportedly shot multiple times to the body shortly after 3:00 p.m. today (Jun. 15) in Cunningham Village in the vicinity of St. Mary’s Park, Lower Cayon.
According to residents in the area, they had heard about five shots fired and, upon investigation, they saw a young man on the ground holding onto his chest. However, no one could have provided any information about the perpetrator(s).
One of them claimed to have immediately summoned the police, who quickly responded and were seen conducting investigations when this media house arrived at the scene of the crime.
This publication was told that while Battice was at home, he received a telephone call and had told his mother that he was going to Cayon.
Everette ‘Roach’ Battice’s death has taken to 16, the total murders committed in the twin-island Federation for the year; 11 on St. Kitts and five on Nevis.
