Alleged rapist still in police custody...

ALLEGED CHILD RAPIST: Calvert Doyling
By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AN approximate three days after he was officially arrested and charged with raping a girl under 14 years, Calvert Doyling of Old Road is still in police custody after appearing before a magistrate to answer to his charge.

The charge of “Unlawful Carnal Knowledge” was preferred against him on April 7, as indicated in a police press release.

He is accused of committing the April 4 offence against a seven-year-old of Old Road. The incident, police confirmed, took place in Old Road and they became aware of the situation after it was reported to them by the victim’s older sister.

The girl was taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for treatment and, according to information reaching SKNVibes, she is still being warded there.

As was stated in a previous article, when Doyling appears before the court he would have the right to make application for bail which may be denied or granted at the magistrate’s will.

This media house has however learnt that he did appear before a magistrate but, according to Police Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Cromwell Henry, he is still in police custody pending further investigations into the incident.

Inspector Henry also stated that Doyling is “expected to be remanded to prison” shortly.
