BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE second night of what promised to be a Music Festival like no other, delivered above and beyond the expectation of the anxious crowd that gather last evening at Warner Park.
The local acts, which included Nicha B, Mod Stoney, Jah Fire and Footsy, set the tone for what can be classified as an exceptional display of musical artistry.
Hostesses Mimi and Sister Sensia kept the coward pumped as they introduced act after act, merely hinting at who the next act would be.
The first of the international acts was the Aswad Band out of London, England. They did songs such as ‘Revolution’, ‘Gimme Di Dub’, ‘Smokey Blues’ and ‘Just A Little Herb’. Remarkable musical interludes helped to set the tone for a mellowing Reggae performance.
Introduced by her back-up dancers, crowd-stopping performer Ciara took to the stage and belted out hits such as ‘Sticking That Ass Out’, ‘1-2 Step’, ‘All that Flying Look Good On Me’, and ‘Like A Boy’. The crowd responded ‘phenomenally’ to her performance but the increment weather deterred them from indulging in her energetic performance.
The audience was then moved when she took a moment to address them stating, “It’s my first time in St. Kitts and I’m loving it! Y’all, you guys have the sweetest energy and you are the most beautiful people I’ve ever met.”
Christopher Martin kept the momentum going as he delivered a set that had the female patrons screaming throughout his performance.
His act was well rounded as he thrilled the audience with a blast from the past, singing songs such as ‘You Are My Lady’, ‘Let’s Get It On’ and ‘Sexual Healing’.
Martin then transported the large crowd back to the present with hits such as ‘Cheater’s Prayer’, ‘Paper Loving’, ‘My Kind Of Girl’ and ‘Na Na Na’ which kept everyone captivated from start to finish.
The final act did not disappoint, as expected.
It was the renowned Bounty Killa, who took to the stage with high energy performing a plethora of old school hits which proved not to have lost their sting. Among those hits were ‘Look Into My Eyes’, ‘Can’t Believe My Eyes’, ‘Sufferer’ and ‘Suspense’.
His performance was the cherry on top of the cake of the second night of the 19th annual Musical Festival’s successful conclusion.
