BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A Kittitian cricketer playing in England was this week named among the Top 20 Batsmen in Yorkshire by the Yorkshire Cricket Board.

Tahmail Henry of Cayon is that cricketer.

He is playing professionally in England for Alwoodley Cricket Club and had scored an impressive 121 not out against Silsden Cricket Club, stroking 10 fours and five sixes in his knock and was ranked as number 16 on the weekly batting honours for the Yorkshire Cricket Board.

In an interview, Henry was asked how he felt about achieving such an honour.

“Well, there's over 700 cricket clubs in Yorkshire and thousands of players and I'm ranked 16th out all of that. It’s a pretty good feeling. Just makes me want to push harder.”

Henry has been a regular player in England, having been a professional for the last few years for a number of teams across Leeds.

The 23-year-old had also represented the St. Kitts National Team in Leeward Islands Cricket Tournament as well as the Leewards U-19.

He was also asked to explain how his season has gone thus far in England.

“Well, to start off, the season we were on top of the league in points. Then after some misunderstanding with my transfer form, the league took 40 points off us, so that then took us from the top of the table to second bottom which really brought the club down, cause we were doing so well. But with all that happening, I still manage to do my part and get runs for the club.”

Also playing in Leeds is Larry Audain; he too is from Cayon.
