BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FANS came out by the hundreds to celebrate with the lead vocalist of the Nu Vybes Band Gregory ‘Mr. Mention’ Hobson’s Earthday Bash on Saturday, April 4.

Upon arrival at the venue, cars were parked on the main road leading to Club Kactus in Bird Rock, which immediately indicated the bash was a ‘sold off’ event.

Some of the performances included Small Axe Band, Grandmasters, Odisi Band and the Muse Band of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Patrons went into frenzy when local artistes Best A Dem (BAD) began performing not only their hit ‘Gone Clear’, a tune that tells “the haters now matter what they do they will still be the best”, but also the instant hit ‘Hail De Man’.

BAD artiste Kesean ‘Hi-light’ James with his impersonation of a male destitute popularly known as Jeff, brought the crowd into frenzy as they sang along.

He was joined by fellow BAD artiste Rajiv ‘DJ Rinch’ Hamilton and members of the Ethanol Family.

However, the performance could not have been complete without an appearance by the man who inspired the song…Jeff.  He was presented onstage jumping and even singing some of the lines to the song.

He also showcased one of his signature dance moves and sang some words of American rapper’s 50 cent ‘Many Men’.

As he sang ‘Please for a dollar’, persons in the crowd threw money onstage.

The night did not end there as Sister Sensia and Sugar Bowl kept the crowd on the outside fully entertained while DJ Yardy maintained the momentum for the energised crowd on the inside.

A number of early birds got hold of some free triple 8 phone cards and double bubble cards while a young lady won the two-night stay at the Royal St. Kitts Hotel for her good moves on the dance floor. Another female took home a cell phone.

Hobson said he was overwhelmed by the turnout, as it was more than he expected.

“It was real good, and I was really impressed,” he said.
