Police continue joint operations in search of contraband, traffic violations…

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is sticking to its guns in its quest to make the Federation a safer place. And as recent as Friday morning (Jul. 31), it conducted a joint operation that saw more than 40 tickets issued for traffic violations and several individual ordered to remove tints from their vehicles.

     

    The operation, conducted amongst the Traffic Department, Drug Squad and the Special Services Unit, took place simultaneously in three areas: St. Peters, Boyds and Conaree.

    SKNVibes understands that approximately 100 vehicles were stopped and searched and more than 60 individuals searched for drugs and other contraband.

    Of the 42 tickets issued, 24 were to individuals driving vehicles deemed to be too heavily tinted, seven to those who operated vehicles with defective tyres, three to persons who drove without seatbelts and three for keeping unlicensed vehicles for use.

    The other tickets were issued to those who were driving without a driver’s licence, driving without a valid driver’s licence and operating a vehicle while using a cellphone.

    SKNVibes understands that three persons were taken into police custody for violating traffic laws.

    The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has indicated that as part of its Six-Point Plan designed to reduce incidents of violent and other crime within the Federation, operations such as these and others would continue to be conducted throughout the country.

    The exercises include townhall meetings and the removal of derelict vehicles from the streets.
