BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A clarion call for the Youth of Joshua Ministries International (JMI) and by extension of the Federation to “Arise, and Come Forth” into what God has called them to be was made over the weekend through the hosting of Camp Joshua 2015 at the Saddlers Football Stadium.
The complex was transformed into the home of 50 individuals and, beginning on Friday evening (Jul. 31), the campers are exposed to a stream of biblical, educational and fun activities.
The theme, “Youth, Arise and Come Forth”, was selected from Isaiah 60:1-2, on which most of the activities were centered.
It was selected out of an obvious need for the youth to abandon the status quo and seek higher levels in Christ and walk in His perfect will for their lives.
The fun was perfectly mixed with sit-down heart-to-heart interactive sessions that dealt with everyday issues of dealing with unforgiveness and the results of failing to forgive, and rising higher and not allowing anyone or anything prevent their aspiration to achieve the best that God has for them.
The true testament of the impact of the camp is through the campers themselves, some of whom SKNVibes spoke with.
“It has been life-changing, it has drawn me closer to God and I enjoy the fun-Godly activities. It has been fun and very exciting. I enjoy the sessions and learning about the main scripture, which is Isaiah 60:1-2, and how it applies to me,” Kanara Scarborough expressed.
Ten-year-old Adara Abraham said she is having fun and expects to do so until the camp concludes tomorrow.
“I feel like it brings people together and we have lots of fun. The sessions are fun and we are taught a lot about scripture. They teach us about good leadership and we learn a lot in the sessions.”
“Camp has been awesome, a life changing experience and exciting. I have learnt a lot. I have been spiritually and physically refreshed, because every day we are in the Word of God and I get to socialise with the children,” Camp Leader Chelsea Thompson indicated.
“I like how we had the sessions and how they impart to us, and it brings us closer to God. I liked the session with Officer Percival and how he spoke to us about drugs and how we should take our education seriously. The sessions were fun but the most important part was how Apostle England, Minister Shianne, Minister Chabo, Minister Chelsea and Minister Tammy imparted to us from God,” 15-year-old Shakila Collins declared.
Cordel Samuel said the camp was “cool and “very educational”.
Little Tenique Samuel, who seemed at a loss for words when approached by SKNVibes for a comment, simply indicated that the camp was “good” and she expressed her wish that she would be able to attend when it is next held.
Camp Joshua was birthed by co-founder of JMI Prophetess Karen England. While speaking with SKNVibes, she said the 2015 camp has proven to be exciting thus far.
“So far it has been an exciting camp! One with a difference and one that not only gives us a chance to play and lime, but one that teaches us the Word of God and helps us to be ourselves and express our feelings. It has pushed us into the things of God, to know more about Him and to understand His heart. By the theme, we are telling the youths to rise up out of their situations, out of their shyness, out of their lukewarmness and arise into the things of God, arise and declare the Word of God to their peers etc…”
