CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – NEVIS has recorded its sixth homicide for the year following the discovery of the body of a popular Refrigeration Technician in his Lower Stoney Grove home in Charlestown.
Reports reaching SKNVibes state that sometime this morning (Aug. 7), the body of Albert Myers was discovered in his apartment with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
Speaking with a number of individuals who knew the businessman, one of them claimed that he suspects Myers’ death had resulted from a robbery.
“I want to believe that Myers was targeted, because yesterday he was asking people if they had US currency to sell. He indicated that he had some money and that his brother, who lives in St. Maarten and was in Nevis for Culturama, was returning to that island yesterday and he wanted to give him some money.
“I am therefore of the view that some individual or individuals might have learnt what his intention was and they targeted him. I am sincerely hoping that they would have left some clues that the police could use to bring them to justice.”
Another indicated that Myers was loved by all of the people who live in the Stoney Grove community and its surrounding areas.
“Myers was living in an apartment next to his mother in Lower Stoney Grove and used to repair refrigerators at his brother’s residence in Upper Stoney Grove. He was a very friendly individual and always had a smile on his face, regardless what the situation may be. It is so sad to hear that a man of his calibre, who does no wrong to anyone and would assist anyone who requests his help, had to die in that way.”
This media house was also told that the deceased man’s vehicle had gone missing and it is suspected that the perpetrator or perpetrators might have used it to make good their escape.
At the time of publication, there was no word of it being found.
In an effort to garner more information pertaining to the police’s preliminary investigation into Myers’ death, SKNVibes contacted the Force’s PRO who indicated that the incident did occur, but he was not privy to the facts and was waiting on a report from the Nevis Division.
This media house tried contacting the Officer-in-Charge of the Nevis Division, Superintendent Hilroy Brandy, but was informed that he was at the time conducting investigations into the matter.
More on this senseless killing as information becomes available.
Albert Myers’ death has taken to 18, the amount of homicides committed in the twin-island Federation for the year; six on Nevis and 12 on St. Kitts.
