KINGSTON, Jamaica – BUJU BANTON, the higher heights artiste, is currently mourning the loss of his mother Murdine ‘Miss Dotty’ Clarke who died earlier this month (April).
Information surrounding the cause of her death is still unknown.
Her death comes just weeks before Banton is scheduled to release his latest album ‘Rasta Got Soul’, which drops in North America on Tuesday, April 21.
According to 876 radio, the singer extended thanks to everyone who sent condolences during his time of grief.
Banton, whose real name is Mark Anthony Myrie and also known as ‘Gargamel’, broke into the music scene with ‘rudebwoy’ lyrics but quickly changed his style from dancehall to more conscious lyrics after he was enlightened by Rastafarianism.
His music and electrifying performances are well received the world over.
And some of his past hits include ‘Tribal War’, ‘Bogle’, ‘Willy, Don’t be silly’, ‘Destiny’, ‘Til I’m Laid to Rest’ and his most recent hit ‘Sleepless nights’.
