BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WHAT started with a piece of wood and an idea has emerged as one of the nation’s finest woodwork companies, as Hype Works has set the standard for furniture manufacturing in the domestic market.

Doing business for just about five years, the company has commanded a large market not only in St. Kitts but also in Nevis and St. Eustatius and has since been committed to producing the highest quality furniture from its Cunningham Estate workshop in Lower Cayon.

Clients can choose from a wide array of treated lumber including Brazilian mahogany or cedar, American white oak, purple heart or pitch pine for the ideal finish. Styles range from classic European artistry to exotic Caribbean décor and, for pedants of fine interior decoration, Hype Works has a reputation of delivering international quality with a local touch.

The company offers a multiplicity of services and boasts its signature furniture including kitchen cabinets, pantries, bathroom vanities, dressers and bed heads. Not only is Hype Works able to produce quality counters and tables, but it also offers solid surface installation and building maintenance, transforming any dull space to a stylish yet functional living area.

Before any work is done, Hype Work representatives discuss the furniture ideas with the homeowners and make recommendations to how best the plan can suit the space and the purpose. A preliminary sketch is rendered and further modifications are made according to the homeowner’s liking. Within a short space of time, the team would work assiduously to give any living space a facelift.

According to Proprietor of Hype Works Butch Morris, from a young age he was fascinated with carpentry and obsessed with the power to create beauty from a piece of wood. He said he is now overwhelmed that it is no longer a dream but a major part of his life.

“All of this is now part of me. When we take a piece of wood and carefully shape it into a work of art and we step back and look at it, it gives a great sense of satisfaction. We take our time using the most cutting-edge technology and shape the wood into a masterpiece which is not only functional but also stylish,” Morris said.

The young entrepreneur, who brings almost 14 years of experience, told SKNVibes that for a short time he had worked with another carpenter where he gathered most of his practical skills to complement his formal training gained at the CFB College Division of Technical Vocation.

“I learned a lot from previous work experiences but I thought that starting Hype Works would give me the opportunity to excel in what I love while at the same time improve the quality of service offered in carpentry,” Morris said.

Morris explained that most of the work is done in the workshop so that assembly and installation become quick and virtually seamless. Customers are welcomed to the workshop to assess the progress of their order or to simply admire the workmanship the team puts into each piece of furniture.

According to one contented client currently building his home in St. Peters, he is very pleased with the quality of work provided by Hype Works. He informed that his kitchen was “a mere shell” in the beginning, adding that within a few day the design of the space was “exceptional”.

“Because of the size of my kitchen, I wanted a particular style and fit to accommodate all my appliances. I must say that Hype Works has done an excellent job in utilising the space as efficiently as possible. I really can’t complain. I have a lot of countertop space, a spacious pantry, even a broom closet, and it makes me feel so good,” the homeowner informed.

The client told SKNVibes that the cost is “very reasonable” and encouraged others to contact Hype Works, the company which he views “can do the work, be it on a low or high budget”.

Once ago it may have been far from possible to get the exact design you need provided with an international standard, local designs and reasonable prices, but now Hype Works has made it all possible to live the dream of such exquisite interior design with a local polish.
