What’s up with ‘da’?

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - WHAZZZZ up? ‘What’s up with ‘da’? is back again and bringing you some of the emails received about this column.

Topping the list is Linda from Hartford, who would like to know, “What's up with the young woman wanting to spend a $100 on a pair of jeans, $85 on shoes, $95 on a top and don’t forget the bangles and earrings; the cheapest ones I saw when I was in SK was $25 and the kids don’t have a decent pair of shoes to wear school or decent shirt/blouse and pants or tunic/jumper?”

Internal Audit asked, “What’s up with these young girls wearing pants so tight and not their size, showing their butt cracks even when they are not sitting down?” 

Another irate young woman wants to know what’s up with children getting children, and asking when will this end.

Vanessa’s mind was on the banks when she sent her what’s up with da asking, “What’s up with the banks no longer using bankbooks and failing on promises to mail out statements quarterly, yet charging $5 for a statement if the customer requests one?”

A US resident by the name of Shema did not hesitate to ask, “What’s up with these girls who fight other girls because they steal their man, instead of addressing the issue with the man himself?” 

A young man known as Ryan would like to know, “What’s up with people singing in the office while other people are trying to do their work?”

Tess, 27, had quite a different topic when she asked, “What’s up with men who say they love you just to taste your ‘jolly rancher’?”

And last but not least, Amanda would like to know, “What’s up with sweaty smelly skin people coming sitting next to clean decent people on busses?”
