CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – THIS week, Weekend Vibes took to the streets and asked Nevisians if they believe that bus operators should lower their fares given the drop in fuel prices on the world market, and why they believe the fares have not yet been reduced.

Yes I think they should drop the prices because gas drop all over the world. They should follow the policy that when gas drops so too should the fares; and if it go back up then they should take back up the prices. I think that the price ain’t drop yet because the buses association haven’t come together yet and put in a voice, but they need to.

I think it should drop. In all, I pay $10 a day for bus and I find it should be much cheaper because fuel gone down long time. Personally, I ain’t know why it ain’t change yet.

Yes the bus fare should drop. Buses don’t have to pay as much as they use to pay for fuel. I work in a supermarket and is $40 to $50 dollars I pay weekly in bus. That is around $160-$200 a month. Is is very hard. I think they ain’t drop it yet because they ain’t want to.

It’s unfair for us to be paying such high prices for bus and the bus men them getting the fuel cheap. We could understand when gas had gone up but it’s down now so they should take down their prices. We think it aint drop because of government policy. They can’t do it unless word is given from the head or association.

Yes I think the bus prices should drop because fuel gone down. It should be done in order to help poor people especially. Things are very hard in Nevis right now. The economic crisis is real bad so the buses should realise the change in gas, so they should change their prices. Me ain’t know why they ain’t change, but they need to.
