BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ACTING Commissioner of Police Stafford Liburd has confirmed to this publication that Grell Browne is “at the moment” functioning as the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force’s Director of Communications.

Liburd made the conformation this afternoon (Sept. 29) during a brief telephone interview.

When questioned about Inspector Lyndon David, whose designation was the Police Force’s Press and Public Relations Officer, the COP (Ag) indicated that he no longer functions in that capacity but has been reassigned.

His reassignment requires him to perform duties as Head of the Frigate Bay Policing District.

Liburd confirmed that David’s reassignment took effect this week.

He indicated that the term “Public Relations Officer” is not currently in use, which suggests that that position is now defunct.

Browne, prior to his recent appointment, was the Director of the St. Kitts-Nevis Information Service (SKNIS).

In July 2015, when rumours abounded that Browne was earmarked to replace Inspector Lyndon David, the Acting COP told this publication that Browne was “working closely with the police… that is all I am prepared to say. At the moment he is working closely with the Police Department”.

COP (Ag) Liburd informed that in short order a press release informing the public of the transition would be prepared and disseminated to the media.
