Former Kittitian Superstar crowned 2009 VI Carnival Queen

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE 2005 Kittitian Superstar, Karence Decosta, who blew everyone away with her powerful voice at the age of 13, has now moved on to higher heights as she was crowned the 2009 Virgin Islands Carnival Queen.
According to the VI Daily News, Decosta stole the show during the talent segment of the contest with her soulful vocal and walked away with the top prize at the Carnival Queen Selection Show at Lionel Roberts Stadium.
She received the awards for Miss Cooperative, Miss Photogenic, Best Cultural Costume, Best Talent and Miss Intellect.
The other contestants were Lynnette Boschulte, Tamika Joseph and Brittany Brin, all of whom, according to the VI Daily News, put on an excellent show in front of thousands of supporters.
