BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TENIELLE ‘BLAZE’ PERCIVAL, one of the three individuals charged in relation to the October Conaree Beach drug bust, was granted bail Monday (Nov. 2) at the Basseterre Magistrate’s Court.
Percival, who is charged with possession of a controlled drug, possession with intent to supply and importation of a controlled drug, appeared before Her Honour Josephine Mallelieu-Webbe and his bail application was accepted.
SKNVibes understands that there was no objection to the request for bail.
Information reaching this media house indicates that Percival’s bail sum is $500,000 with two sureties and, as conditions of his release, he is to report to the Basseterre Police Station on Fridays and is to surrender his travel documents.
Percival, a Lime Kiln resident, was charged along with Kenrick Simmonds and Greg Williamson of Antigua and Barbuda.
Williamson’s charges mirrored Percival’s but Simmonds’ were eight in number and included aiding and abetting in the commission of drug-related offences, conspiracy, importation of a controlled drug and obstruction under the Electronic Crimes Act.
Of the three, Williamson remains on remand while Simmonds was the first to be granted bail. His was granted on October 5 in the sum of $1,000,000 with two sureties and he was also required to surrender his travel documents and ordered to report to the Basseterre Police Station on Fridays.
The charges stem from a sting operation that took place during the early hours of October 1 at Conaree Beach.
According to the police, two men arrived at Conaree Beach via a vessel, and when they did they were “challenged” by police and one of them responded with gunfire.
The police also informed that they returned fire, killing one of the men. He was identified as Obi Baron, who resided in Antigua and Barbuda but was a national of Dominica.
Two individuals, the police further explained, were on the beach in a pickup truck and were apprehended when they attempted to flee the scene.
Also seized were bails of compressed marijuana, 124 pounds, with a street value of EC$930,000.
