St. Kitts Showcased in Food and Travel Magazine

By: St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Press Release

London, UK 9 November 2015: The culinary delights of St. Kitts, alongside the island’s unique attractions, have been exclusively featured across 11 pages of glossy magazine, Food and Travel, following St. Kitts Tourism Authority’s recent hosting of UK journalist, Judy Bastyra and award-winning photographer, Gary Latham.

Entitled ‘Kitt & Caboodle’, and illustrated with stunning photography throughout, the 11-page gourmet destination feature has beautifully captured the colour, smells and culture of St. Kitts through the markets and street food of Basseterre, the beach bars along The Strip, local and fine dining restaurants and newer concepts such as the ‘farm to fork’ ethos at Belle Mont Farm and vegetarian health options at Ital Creations.

Local residents played a prominent part in bringing the feature to life providing their own insight and stories about the island.  These included Wingfield Estate owner, Maurice Widdowson; Jasmine and Ken Francis at El Fredo’s restaurant; Judah Fari at Ital Creations;  Val Kempadoo at Kittitian Hill  and many local fishermen and food vendors.

As part of her culinary journey of St. Kitts, writer Judy Bastyra also visited Brimstone Hill Fortress and National Park and enjoyed a tour on the scenic railway.

Says Judy Bastyra, “Great food is never far away in St. Kitts – an island whose cuisine is at the core of its reinvention, a decade after the sugar factories closed for good.  Today, rum, reggae and dining by the beach are drawing the crowds.”

The St. Kitts Tourism Authority would like to thank stakeholders and partners including Kittitian Hill, Christophe Harbour, Ottley’s Plantation, Rock Haven and Timothy Beach for their support in the visit of Judy Bastyra and Gary Latham; in addition to the many local residents who gave their time to make this happen.
