Dubai, United Arab Emirates, November 19, 2015 (FA): - Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable Mark Brantley, in a keynote address, described the reopening of the Consulate General in Dubai as a huge success.
At an official reception to celebrate the relaunch, attended by citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), current and potential investors and prospective citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis, the Minister of Foreign Affairs declared that “this development is further testament of our Government’s commitment to its citizens and to our relationship with the Government of the United Arab Emirates”.
The Honourable Minister also indicated that “St. Kitts and Nevis has a lot to offer, and the Federation is open for investment in priority areas such as tourism, manufacturing, commercial agriculture, telecommunication and financial services.” He spoke directly to new citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis and encouraged them to invest in their new country. The Minister of Foreign Affairs also insisted that “our consular presence here in Dubai should inspire people to have greater confidence of our commitment to them and that their needs will be met.”
The Acting Consul General, Elsa Wilkin-Armbrister underlined her willingness and commitment to serve and extended an invitation for citizens to register with the Consulate General “so that we are better able to interact with and serve all our citizens in Dubai. You can all be assured of our professionalism, courtesy and eagerness to address any and all issues.” Mrs. Wilkin-Armbrister thanked guests for their participation and for the warmth of welcome and kindness extended to her and her family since her arrival in Dubai. “
In her remarks, Mrs Wilkin-Armbrister stressed the importance of national identity in the context of public diplomacy and culture and, how together these elements can strengthen a country’s brand. She encouraged attendees to use their collective skills, intelligence and network to help build a more modern and prosperous St. Kitts and Nevis.
Also in attendance was Her Excellency Jasmine Huggins, St. Kitts and Nevis Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Taiwan.
