Exciting Week for St. Kitts Cruise Sector

    More than 31,500 Passengers Visited St. Kitts this Week 

     

    BASSETERRE (20TH November, 2015): It was an exciting week in the St. Kitts cruise sector as two ships made their inaugural calls to St. Kitts, adding to the 31,000-plus passengers from 12 ships calls.

    Minister of Tourism, International Trade, Commerce and Industry, The Hon. Lindsay F.P. Grant, personally welcomed the Norwegian Spirit and the Anthem of the Seas on their first calls to St. Kitts this week. The Norwegian Spirit with a capacity of 3,760 passengers arrived on Monday, while the Anthem of the Seas arrived on Tuesday with 4,905 passengers.

    Minister Grant presented plaques to both captains to commemorate the inaugural visits. 

    “November is indeed a wonderful month for St. Kitts, as only last week we welcomed the inaugural visit of the Norwegian Getaway, and now we welcome two more ships on their first calls to our beautiful destination,” Minister Grant said. “This speaks well to our cruise sector, especially since we are in a cruise season that promises to bring more than a million passengers to St. Kitts.”

    The Anthem of the Seas is from the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, whose ships will make a total of 86 calls to St. Kitts, which include visits from the Allure of the Seas and the Oasis of the Seas. St. Kitts will have a total of six calls from ships of the Norwegian Cruise Line: one from the Norwegian Gem, Spirit and Getaway, and three from the Norwegian Breakaway. 

    This week saw multiple ship days, emphasized by four cruise ships visiting the destination on Tuesday. A total of 12 ship called on St. Kitts this week, bringing more than 31,500 visitors.

    Minister Grant revealed that for the 2016/2017 season St. Kitts will have a new pier and upgraded dispatching facility. The proposed second pier will meet all the physical requirements for the newest and largest tonnage.
