ST. THOMAS, VI (April 24, 2009) - Two models from the Virgin Islands traveled to Barbados on Friday, (April 24) to compete in the 4th Annual Face of Shabeau Model Search Competition.
Top Virgin Islands models Esonica Veira and Caleeb Brewley were selected as the delegates who will represent the U.S. Virgin Islands at the show.
The event is aimed at propelling the careers of young aspiring models in the Caribbean who are interested in the world of fashion and modeling and who are working on developing their portfolios in an effort to take their careers to the next level.
Veira and Caleeb are no strangers to the Virgin Islands Fashion scene. Both models have appeared on the Caribbean Catwalk, the signature runway show of Virgin Islands Fashion Week while Veira was also Virgin Islands Carnival Queen in 2007.
“I am pleased to have Ms. Veira and Mr. Brewley represent the Virgin Islands,” said Henry Marsham, President of Worldwide Event Management Group. I am confident they will represent us well and win the competition.”
The winners of the competition are awarded one-year modeling contracts with Shabeau Magazine and a placement with an international agency.
They will also grace the cover of the magazine June 2009 issue and become the magazine’s official spokespersons for a year.
Past winners of this event have been featured in Glamour Magazine and have become the face of brands such as Cher-Mere Cosmetics.
Last year, the Virgin Islands was represented by Renata Christian and Talon Thomas who both place second in the competition overall.

The Face of Shabeau Model Search competition was created by Paper Plus Publishing Inc, the parent company of Barbados fashion and lifestyle magazine, Shabeau.
The competition is held annually in April. Worldwide Event Management Group, LLC, a U.S. Virgin Islands Company and parent company to Virgin Islands Fashion Week owns the local Virgin Islands Face of Shabeau franchise.
