BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – HAVING won a Kajola Kristada Employee of the Month award in 2008, Ivanka James waited some eight years to win it again, and even when the decision was announced, she was in disbelief.
James has been employed with Kajola Kristada for the past 12 years and has worked on the Super Trap Line for more than five years.
Her supervisor, Valarie Adams, vouches for her work ethic, naming her as one who could get even the most difficult of tasks done with relative ease and efficiency.
“She is one of the longest serving notchers we have. She is very, very friendly and, in terms of production, she is very good and very efficient. In terms of difficulty of the jobs, she is one who we give the most difficult tasks to because she is very good at her job and gets the job done with ease.”
James told SKNVibes that after the Employee of the Month Committee had gone through its routine song and dance through the plant and announced that she was the winner of the October 2015 title, she was so taken aback that she fell to her knees and attempted to hide under her worktable.
“I was shocked. I was so shocked that I almost went into a coma…I didn’t expect it. I always give my best effort. I sit and do my work, I come to work on time and I try my best to be present. I won it once before but really didn’t expect to win it like this again. But I feel good that I did.”
She said one of the factors that contributed to her win is motivation.
“Motivation was one of the biggest keys. On the Super Trap Line we always motivate and encourage each other to get the work done and get it done properly. Our supervisor always does that also, and that helps us to push through.
“I believe my fellow Super Trap workers can win this award with ease. I know they can do it
Super Trap Line.”
Adams, in commending James, declared, “I congratulate Ivanka James on becoming Employee of the Month for October 2015 and may she continue to improve and get better at what she does.”
