Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 24, 2015 (SKNIS): Tyesha Moses of the Washington Archibald High School (WAHS) was recently rewarded US $200 for making the final round in the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) essay competition which encourages students to learn and appreciate the Cruise Tourism Industry.

Moses addressed current matters in Cruise Tourism.

Over the past years, the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the FCCA has been hosting essay competitions for students within both private and public institutions in St. Kitts.

The competition focuses on current topics in Cruise Tourism and is first done on a local level. Two submissions are then selected; one from the Junior Division and the other from the Senior Division. The essays are then sent to the FCCA committee to decide on the best submission.

This year’s winning essay came from Belize and was awarded the sum of US $3000 for both the student and school respectively. Jamaica came in second with a reward of US $1500 and Dominica came in third winning US $1000 for both student and school respectively.

The Ministry of Tourism wishes to thank all the schools that participated especially the Washington Archibald High School. All schools are encouraged to participate in future FCCA essay competitions as not only does the student learn more about Cruise Tourism but both student and school will be able to receive monetary rewards for their success.
