December 7th, 2015 -- Carolita Cantrell, a US artist resident in Nevis, is the featured solo artist this week at the Charlestown Art Gallery, according to the gallery’s coordinator, Deborah Tyrell.
Carolita’s art show will run from December 7th to December 18th, 2015 from 10.00 a.m to 4.00 p.m. The theme she has chosen for her art pieces this time round is , “The Universe Without and Within.” Nebulae has been a source of her inspiration this season.
“My husband, suggested I look at some of the photos of nebulae found on the internet. Google showed me some and I became fascinated with them and so began a series based on them, and in most of them, there is an image of a figure,” Carolita said.
The Show will also feature some of my mosaics, some paintings of masks, some three dimensional pieces, and some additional new paintings.
Carolita’s first introduction to Nevis was through her granddaughter's wedding that took place in Nevis.
“We found the people to be friendly, the island to be natural, noncommercial, and the climate ideal. We moved here from North Carolina in the states and have lived year round on the island for more than 10 years,” Carolita said.
