Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 10, 2015 (SKNIS): Minister of Public Infrastructure, Honourable Ian Patches Liburd, invited the entire population of St. Kitts and Nevis to tune in to next week’s presentation of the Budget that will be laid in the Federal Parliament.

On Tuesday (December 15) Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, will introduce The Appropriation (2016), Act 2015 which will fund government’s plans and programmes for the upcoming year. Each member of parliament presents on the Budget and members on the government’s side traditionally use the occasion to review their ministries accomplishments and outline future plans.

On Wednesday’s edition of “Working for You,” Minister Liburd gave brief insight into some upcoming projects slated for East Basseterre. This includes the relocation of the bus stop from Johnson Street and Branch Street which is infamous for issues of traffic congestion.

“We are going to relocate the buses and have a modern bus terminal in the area where the Public Works Repair Shop now is located and relocate the [Repair] Shop up to the St. Kitts Sugar Manufacturing Corporation (SSMC) area where there was a shop,” he said.

Two, three-storey apartment structures will also be constructed, replacing older structures around Wellington Road and West Street, accommodating some 60 families. A car park will also be built for residents.

Minister Liburd encouraged individuals to be “glued to your television and radio and we will outline and roll out our plans for the next fiscal year.”
