BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AN activity in the Cayon area yesterday afternoon (Jan. 5) led residents and passers-by to believe that something outside of the ordinary had taken place, having observed the presence of clusters of Defence Force members and Police Officers and the rerouting of traffic.

SKNVibes however understands it was a traffic accident that took place shortly before midday involving a motorcar and a motor omnibus and, because of the vicinity within which it occurred, it was necessary to redirect the flow of traffic to prevent possible congestion.

This publication had learnt that the two vehicles – motor omnibus HA388 owned and driven by Kelvon Arthurton of Lower Cayon and motorcar PA2991 owned and driven by Dexter Tyron of Christchurch – were travelling in an easterly direction when the car struck the bus from the rear.

The incident occurred on the island’s main road in vicinity of the Pub.

SKNVibes understands that passengers were in the bus at the time and some of them complained of pain. However, no one was taken to the hospital.

In order to ensure that the flow of traffic was not impeded by the accident, motorists coming from Brighton’s direction were taken down an alternate route.

The scene was processed by members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, but this media house understands that the rerouting of traffic was done by members of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force who have been working within that area for a number of months.
