January 12th, 2016 -- The Guyana Jaguars are on a roll and picked up their second consecutive win in the NAGICO Super 50 tournament in St. Kitts. This time they rolled over the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) Marooners by 7 wickets at the St. Paul’s Cricket Grounds on Monday. The Marooners opened the batting and posted 149, an easy target for a Jaguars side that came off a major 72 win against the Leeward Islands Hurricanes on Saturday. In response, the Jaguars knocked 153 runs for 4.
Assad Fudaddin was the standout batsman for the Jaguars registering 71 runs. Vishaul Singh was 36 not out and A Bramble on 20. Vikash Mohan of the Marooners took 2 wickets for 25 runs in 9.4 overs. For the most parts it was easy sailing for the Jaguars batting attack who took their runs in pace, not feeling rushed or the need to score multiple boundaries to secure the win.
Batting for the Marooners, only Ryan Hinds made any notable score with 48 supported by low double figure from Anthony Alleyne, Akeem Dewar, Aron Jones and Nino Henry. Versammy Permaul was the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets for 23 runs in 10 overs while Paul Wintz of the Jaguars picked up 3 wickets for 21 runs adding 2 maiden overs in 8.4overs.
This win certainly boosts the Jaguars confidence as they head into their match on Wednesday at the Warner Park against the Windward Volcanoes. Jaguars lost their opening match to the Volcanoes in last Thursday’s tournament opener by 1 run under the Duckworth Lewis system due to rain earlier that day. The Marooners are hoping for their first win Wednesday when they face the Leeward Islands Hurricanes.
