BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A collision between two motor busses took place on the Bay Road this afternoon (Jan. 14) causing one to topple on its side.
The traffic accident occurred at about 4:15 p.m. and, according to information from the Traffic Department, it involved motor bus PA394 which is owned and was driven by Dion Daniel of Dieppe Bay, and motor bus TA381 which is owned and was driven by Joseph Leader of Romney Ground, Sandy Point.
The Department reported that according to information it had gathered, Leader was travelling eastward along the Bay Road and when he got in the vicinity of the junction of that thoroughfare and Sandown Road, Daniel existed Sandown Road and Leader’s vehicle was struck on its left side.
The impact caused Leader to lose control of the vehicle which resulted it in flipping and landing on its right side.
The Department also stated that there was no report of injury to any of the occupants of the vehicles, but both buses were damaged.
A representative of the Traffic Department took the opportunity to remind motorists to observe the speed limits.
“We at the Department appeal to drivers to remember that the speed limit is 40 miles per hour in non-built-up areas and 20 miles per hour in built-up areas. And we appeal to them that whenever coming out from junctions, especially at blind spots, they need to do so with utmost care and caution.”
Investigations into the accident are being made.
