Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 22, 2016 (SKNIS): The formal meetings of the Cabinet took place on January 11 and January 21, 2016. The meetings were chaired by the Prime Minister, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris.
1. The Police High Command met with Cabinet to discuss the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) Strategic Plan 2016-2019. The Plan was well received and accepted in principle by the Cabinet. The Police High Command was commended by the Cabinet. Each Cabinet minister spoke to areas of weakness and strength of the Plan.
2. Cabinet discussed water mitigation measures and agreed that certain new initiatives will be taken to deal with the crisis.
3. Cabinet approved concessions for small businesses including new small businesses.
4. The team of experts looking at identifying the new site for the building of the new Basseterre High School met with the Cabinet to discuss the pros and cons of various sites. Cabinet was presented with several options. The hydrologic personnel gave their input on how the proposed sites can possibly impact the Basseterre Valley Aquifer.
