BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – MEMBERS of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force uprooted more than 2,000 marijuana plants discovered in the Cayon area earlier this week.

The soldiers were sent to the Whites Mountain on Sunday (Jan. 17) by Sergeant Carl Greaux of the Cayon Police Station to comb the area and they reportedly discovered 2,200 marijuana plants which ranged from seedlings to four feet in height.

The plants were taken into police custody and are expected to be destroyed at a later date.

Sergeant Greaux told SKNVibes that such activities would be continued and are part of the High Command of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force’s thrust to eradicate illicit drugs from the Federation.

He expressed special thanks to the Defence Force soldiers for their assistance with the operation and also for their involvement in fighting crime in that area since the collaborative initiative began a few months ago.

He said they have been doing a terrific job since the collaboration began and have been a great source of relief, adding that he is looking forward to further and even greater collaboration.
