Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 22, 2016 (SKNIS): Deputy Premier of Nevis and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Aviation in the Federal Cabinet of St. Kitts and Nevis, the Honourable Mark Brantley, explained that having dual responsibilities is a great deal of work, however, there are still greater benefits to be derived.
Minister Brantley was at the time speaking on the Government’s weekly radio and television programme “Working for You” on Wednesday, January 20, when he pointed out the benefits.
“I think it allows me a bird’s eye view of what is happening both in Nevis and in St. Kitts,” said Minister Brantley. “It gives a much stronger voice in the Federal Cabinet to speak to matters that impact the people of Nevis.”
He further stated that for a long time, laws, regulations, rules and policies were being articulated at the Federal level that impact the people of Nevis as a constituent element of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, but the people of Nevis had no input.
“I think that, that now changes as the Premier is there and I am there,” he said. “It is a lot of work but I am grateful to the people of Nevis.”
The Honourable Brantley serves as the Deputy Premier and Minister of Tourism, Health, Gender, Social Affairs, Social Development, Culture, Youth, Sports, and Community Development in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA).
Following the Federal elections of 2015, Honourable Brantley was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and Aviation on February 22, in the Federal Government.
