BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FOLLOWING yesterday morning’s (Jan. 27) shooting-death of Lanzelle O’Loughlin, the police have informed that a man was arrested on suspicion of the heinous crime.
A police statement noted that the suspect would be interviewed by the investigating officers and that it is too early at this time to say whether charges would be forthcoming.
Shortly before 7:00 a.m. yesterday, the 25-year-old O’Loughlin of Cayon was shot multiple times in the vicinity of the Moravian Church in Mansion Village and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Mary Charles Hospital.
Information reaching this publication stated that O’Loughlin would routinely stop and purchase items from Junie’s Shop in Mansion Village before proceeding to a construction site in that area where he worked.
However, on that fateful morning, shortly after exiting the shop, a car was reportedly seen in the area from which a gunman or gunmen fired a number of shots at him.
It is claimed that he was struck multiple times in the region of his chest and he tried running away from his assailant(s) but fell on the road just about two buildings from Junie’s Shop.
Investigations are being conducted members of the Violent Crimes Unit and the police are appealing to anyone who may have information relative to this incident to contact any police station or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 (TIPS).
