CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas - THOUSANDS of disappointed persons who went out to revel yesterday morning (May 30) at the annual VI Carnival J’Ouvert went home upset because the jam session had to end due to a number of incidents.

According to the St. Thomas Source, Police Commissioner James McCall told officers to stop the J’Ouvert sometime around 9:30 a.m. just after two stabbings and one shooting incident occurred on the parade route.

The media house further stated that of the three separate incidents, one 14-year-old was stabbed in his abdomen and was in serious condition and awaiting surgery while a 19-year-old was shot in his thigh. A third individual was reportedly stabbed but remains at large, as he did not seek medical attention.

Commissioner McCall said they have suspects but no one was apprehended.

Meanwhile, a number of persons expressed their disappointment over the entire situation and said the officials should have never stopped the J’Ouvert. Some individuals even blamed the police for spoiling the annual event.
