UK Sports Tour Operators come on board to sell Nevis’s sporting events to international visitors
Charlestown, Nevis… 25th January 2016 In recent times, the Caribbean island of Nevis has developed a growing reputation as an island of sport. Famed for three unmissable annual events, the island has been attracting increasing numbers of international athletes, sports enthusiasts and visitors. To further develop this market the Nevis Tourism Authority (NTA) are delighted to announce partnerships with two leading Sports Tour Operators in the UK SwimTrek and 2:09 Events, who will sell packages to the annual island events.
After a hugely successful maiden weeklong trip to the Nevis St Kitts Annual Cross Channel Swim in 2015, SwimTrek return to Nevis for the 2016 event. This time adding a second weeklong trip, both of which sold out in record time. SwimTrek are the world’s leading swim tour operator, selling swimming trips to 3000 people in 21 destinations worldwide each year. SwimTrek’s trip to Nevis incorporates a week’s worth of island swims with the Nevis St. Kitts Cross Channel Swim, giving swimmers a chance to test the waters before they swim the warm, crystal clear 4km ‘Narrows’ between St Kitts and Nevis. Swimmers can expect to be joined by giant sea turtles and stingrays along the route. This event was recently described by The Sunday Telegraph as amazing and unique, one not to be missed by any open water enthusiast!
Following the success of the Nevis Marathon and Running Festival, leading running tour operator and Official Partner to the World Marathon Majors Series, 2:09 Events have opted to sell a weeklong package surrounding the Marathon. 2:09 Events offer a personal service to the best Marathon destinations, whether that’s the World Marathon majors or amazing venues like Nevis. The Nevis Marathon package will combine 7 nights B&B with warm up runs on the trails around the hotel, a welcome BBQ, pasta party, postrace beach party and farewell dinner.
With an optional rainforest or Nevis Peak hike, making it simple for runners to book their Nevis Marathon experience. The inaugural Nevis Marathon was described as “a truly special and charming island marathon” by Kerry McCarthy, Commissioning Editor of Runner’s World. The magazine has since gone on to feature reviews from participants of the Nevis Marathon urging other runners to join them at the 2016 event.
The final event in the Nevis race calendar is the Nevis International Triathlon, billed as the most beautiful triathlon in the world, the event is gaining international popularity year on year. With various distances available this is fast becoming an unmissable event for any keen triathlete. 2:09 Events are due to begin selling a triathlon event package as they grow their global triathlon audience.

This year the Nevis St Kitts Swim takes place on 27th March 2016, the Nevis Marathon and Running Festival is on from 8th 10th September 2016 with a 5k race on the 8th, a 10k, half marathon and marathon on the 10th. The International Triathlon will be held on 12th November 2016.
