Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 04, 2016 (SKNIS): Timothy Antoine, Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), promises to work closely with media practitioners in St. Kitts and Nevis and the region on a whole. He noted the media’s importance with regards to the bank as it moves forward, while speaking at a press conference on Monday, February 01.
“I want at the outset to recognize our media partners,” said Governor Antoine. “Media partners, the Central Bank wishes to work very closely with you on our agenda, but before I continue let me again reaffirm how humble I am to have been asked to take on this assignment at this particular time and I thank the Monetary Council for the faith and confidence reposed in me.”
He explained that the media session was specifically arranged to express his intention along with the bank’s desire and commitment to work with media partners during his tenure.
Governor Antoine took the time out to recognize the former Governor, Sir. K. Dwight Venner.
“I also wish to acknowledge the colossal contribution of my predecessor Sir K Dwight Venner,” he said, while adding that Sir Dwight served the region long and well with an industrious career. “I have been fortunate to have benefitted from his guidance and wisdom over the years and in many ways on regional matters. He has been a mentor and so on behalf of the bank I again express my deep appreciation for his advice and contribution and I wish him the very best in his well-deserved retirement and I’m sure as we go forward there will be ways and means for us to honor the legacy of Sir Dwight.”
The Governor also pledges to work closely with the people of St. Kitts and Nevis and acknowledged them for their generous advice and warm welcome since moving to the Federation over a week ago.
Governor Timothy Antoine was installed as the third Governor of ECCB on Monday February 01, by Chairman of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU), Anguilla’s Chief Minister Victor Banks.
