    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A man who was admonished by a police officer for smashing bottles on the road, allegedly attacked the lawman and was shot in the process.

     

    Elvis Maynard of St. Pauls Village is currently warded in stable condition at the JNF General Hospital after he was shot on Friday night (May 1).

     

    According to a press release, at about 10:30 p.m. on the day in question, “Police responded to a report at Main Street, St. Pauls. Having dealt with that report, two men were seen smashing bottles in the road. The Police warned them against the behaviour and left”.

     

    The release further stated that the men became irate and was following the officer, making threats at him. “One of the men,” it added, “Elvis Maynard of St. Pauls, attacked the officer who discharged his firearm inuring him”.

     

    Investigations are ongoing.
