BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – INVESTIGATIONS are being made by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force into a shooting incident that took place on Nevis last evening (Mar. 4) and the subsequent seizure of a firearm and arrest of an individual suspected to be involved in that matter.

Information reaching SKNVibes suggests that sometime during last evening, two individuals were involved in an altercation that ended with one chasing the other. It is alleged that shots were fired during the chase.

It was suggested that while that incident was taking place, two individuals – a male and a woman - were at Hunkins Drive, and having heard the sound of gunshots they entered their vehicle in effort to leave the area. But while doing so a bullet entered the vehicle and struck the male on one of his arms.

According to a police press release issued this morning, investigating officers discovered an illegal firearm last evening and took it into their custody.

“The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has recovered the sixth illegal firearm for 2016…the seizure was as a result of an investigation into an altercation that resulted in the use of a firearm. The altercation occurred around 9:00 p.m…in the vicinity of the Octagon Bar in Charlestown.”

It also informs that one individual who was not involved in the altercation was injured in the process

The release further stated that increased presence of officers in Charlestown resulted in the quick apprehension of the suspect, Lawton Forbes, who was making his escape in the Ramsbury area and the discovery on his person of a .45mm pistol and matching rounds of ammunition.
